Here is a link to the video Let the electricity flow
This video was based around electricity. In it, it has an experiment a man did called Stephen Gray. The experiment was to see if electricity could travel through different objects. The machine used to do his experiment was made of a wooden frame with two swings made of silk rope, and wooden planks. To see his experiment he asked a boy to lay along the to swings. Gray placed some gold leaf in front of him. He then generated electricity. Gold leaf leaped to the boy’s fingers. Some of the audience claimed they could see sparks flying out from his fingertips. Gray divided the world into two different kinds of substances. He called them ‘insulators’ and ‘conductors’. Insulators is a substance or device which does not readily conduct electricity. Conductors are a a substance in which electrical charge carriers, usually electrons, move easily from atom to atom with the application of voltage.
I would like to know how Stephen Gray can up with the idea? Also why he thought this would work? From this video I now understand more about the ways how electricity can an can’t travel through objects.
